Sunderland Greyhound Stadium has announced details of its biggest prize of the year, part of a terrific festival of racing due to take place over three nights in July.
Some of the best greyhounds will descend on Sunderland to compete for their share of the £65,000 purse in four races, the Festival Flyer, the Puppy Plate, the Grand Prix and the main event, the Classic.
The heats will take place at the stadium in Newcastle Road on Saturday 2nd July, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday 9th July and the finals night on Wednesday 13th July.
Each night’s racing will be accompanied by the stadium’s usual package of drinks and meals deals for racegoers.
Ben Stores, Sales and Marketing Executive at the Stadium, said: “The festival is the biggest event of our year and attracts large crowds to see some top-class racing. There will be a great atmosphere.
“Some of the best dogs in the sport will come to take part in the heats and the semi-finals as they strive to get through to finals night.
“The festival is an event that really puts Sunderland on the greyhound racing map and we are looking forward to it immensly.”
